Book Description

Understanding the Dreams You Dream: Biblical Keys for Hearing God’s Voice in the Night not only provides insight into your dreams and life, but also includes a comprehensive dictionary of dream symbols!

You will be guided through the complex world of dreams by a minister with decades of experience receiving, understanding, and interpreting dreams of his own and for others.

I have received many helpful messages from God through dreams. In addition to being helped through my own dreams, I have seen many other people obtain help and comfort by using their dreams as an aid to healing in pastoral counseling. –Ira Milligan

Through Scripture-based meditation, much can be understood about your dreams, but many Christians don’t know how to meditate. This problem is addressed in three different ways:

• Specific, detailed directions are given on how and upon what to meditate.
• Personal examples of dreams from the author’s own experiences.
• Practical dictionary of symbol definitions is included.

This book presents both normal and not-so-normal dream situations. You will learn that to apply only one type of dream interpretation to all dreams is restricting each symbol to only one possible definition, which is incorrect. And you will learn how to tell the difference between a dream from God—and those from evil sources.

This book changed my walk with GodI bought this book because I started having dreams that spoke to something deep inside of me. Psalm 42:7 says “Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.” Joel 2:28 states “I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.” I grew up in a God-fearing home which didn’t talk or know much about things like dreams, visions, gifts of the Spirit, etc. So, when I needed help figuring out what God was trying to say to me through dreams I didn’t feel I could ask any of my family. I decided to ask a few close friends and they pointed me toward this book. I have to say that this book has been used by God to change my life. God showed me the condition of my own heart through dreams and brought me to a place of true repentance. I am still growing in Christ but thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bible, and this book my walk with Christ has deepened. If you are just starting in your journey of listening to God through the language of dreams, my advice is to be prepared to be humbled. It may not be fun to see your heart’s true condition (which we all think of our own heart as pure but sadly many like myself have been deceived by ourselves) but in time the Lord will lift you up and you will see Him for the loving & merciful Savior and King that He is. Most of all, you will see that you are loved by Him truly. Cheers!

Two fairly good chapters, but the lengthy key word dictionary is lackingThe front material is rather interesting, but a little sketchy. Just one example of the critical “night visions” is insufficient to persuade me. But these types of dreams are real and more important with a long historical background. There are plenty of scripture references, but many seem to be a “stretch” and the context is not always clear (scripture vs. dream).I’m most disappointed with the latter, long part of the book, which is essentially a word or term reference dictionary. Milligan has compiled an alphabetical list of words (or terms) that might occur in a dream and his understanding of what the interpretation of the words are. Granted there are plenty of scripture references, each using the word or term. Often the references have no relation to any dreams in the Bible and can be very obvious taken alone. If you look for “flying” you’ll only find a couple references to “fly” as in insects (examples given). People in my acquaintance and I have had frequent dreams involving actually flying. It can be a common dream, often progressive. Yet the text is no help. There is no reference for “conflict” or “struggle” both common elements of dreams. “Water” too is of little help.Granted, some of the words and terms are explained and make a lot of sense.Much of the key word dictionary is not personally helpful. If you have dreams of “six green crawfish talking on the telephone in the water”, you can try to track the words down (no real themes in the book) and come up with some wild interpretation. This book is almost like a parlor game, an archaic term, but relevant. I would look for someone to really study this topic and be a little more selective of dream elements based on the cited experience of people. We need some background. I’m sure Milligan is respected and doing some good work, but he’s taken on a lot. There is mystery in our world and often only God will reveal it to you personally.

BEST BOOK ON THE MARKET FOR DREAMSWe met Ira Milligan years ago when he stayed at our house. He was very fascinating and gave us a meaning to a dream we had. Years later it came to pass just as he said. I have his original book and wanted to get the updated one. I like the new revised one and it is not only the best one on the market but the easiest to use. If you have a color or object or animal or anything else you can remember in the dream, you can go right to that area in the book and see what it means, then he also backs it up in scripture. The book is laid out like a dictionary. It is very plain, concise, easy to understand and I haven’t found anything else like it ion the market. I highly recommend it.

Great for beginners and to keep on kindle/iphoneThis book is great to have on hand at all times! I have it on my kindle/iphone and it comes in handy so much! It is a basic outline of dream interpretation. My favorite part about this book is the diligence in description of each thing. I love that each thing has a verse to go with it and I also like that if you can’t find the exact thing you are looking for, they usually give you a reference to look to. I have maybe once or twice not found something i was looking for in this book. Aside from those two obscure times everything has been in this book. It is a great guide for beginners and very biblical in the interpretations, which is very important to me. I would highly recommend this book. I use it at least once a month.

Great Tool!!!Such an awesome tool to have! We bought this one because our other one was always getting lost. One of the kids, myself, or my husband are always using it and then putting it somewhere… So we bought a backup! This book has a lot of biblical understanding to the “random” things in your dreams. We have been blessed to have been able to attend a conference with Ira Milligan and he is definitely a man of God! He has done extinctive work figuring out the meaning behind the dreams we dream and our family is very grateful he has! Knowing the general idea of what “that weird” dream means has given us the ability to know how to pray and how to better discern what God is telling us through our dreams!

dreamssomeone recommended this book, so they clearly like it – but I don’t think they listened to my request carefully. The book turned out to be a dictionary of sorts with a short introduction. Introduction was absolutely fine – but the book is now on the shelf and I’m not sure how much use it will get? I would have preferred more of the introduction or personal stories but if it’s a dictionary you are after – it is absolutely fine.

interestingYes very interesting little Biblical dream book. A very interesting way of looking at the subject. Gives lots of scriptural reference and is Biblical based. Very interesting and has no reference to anything you may have read before. worth the read and I shall keep it on my book shelf as an excellent little reference book.
